Month: February 2005

  • Even though President’s Day is originally in honor of Washington and Lincoln, I want to lift up our current President.  President Bush is ridiculed and criticized constantly, but he holds a position that not just anyone can hold.  Lord, may You always guide him to make the right decisions and give him continual strength with all the challenges he faces.  Amen.

The subject of love, relationships and marriage are always hot topics – especially now in the month of love and all the Valentine’s hype.  Below is a list that I came up with and tried to live by before getting married [and some are still relevant].  It definitely helped me as God has blessed me incredibly.  Hopefully it can help someone out there as well.

:: Instead of concentrating only on what type of mate you want, make sure to constantly better yourself also, building up your integrity and character.

:: Be patient.  Don’t jump into things way too prematurely just b/c of infatuation or flattery.

:: Be independent.  Be content and comfortable doing things yourself.  Yes, fellowship is great, but being totally dependent on a person|people is dangerous.

:: Remember that marriage will not fulfill everything.  A boyfriend|girlfriend relationship won’t fulfill everything.  Only God can do that.  If you carry that mentality, you’re in for a surprise.

:: Don’t settle.  That means you’re not trusting that God will give you your perfect match.

    Here’s a funny:

An English professor wrote the words,

“a woman without her man is nothing”

on the blackboard and directed the students to punctuate it correctly.

The men wrote:  “A woman, without her man, is nothing.”

The women wrote:  “A woman: without her, man is nothing.”
