  • Pick Grace

Hunny and I are rolling out some new things, one of them being my new project, Grace Picks.

Just as Dr. Meredith Grey [coincidentally of Seattle Grace Hospital] famously said, “Pick me. Choose me. Love me.” by subscribing. :)

  • Aloha…

to our new Associate Photographer, Alison Fujii!

  • The Inevitable

Hunny and I have been predicting for awhile that Starbucks will be providing free internet access. In this day and age where we are a people with a need to be connected 24/7, it would be unsmart for a business not to, in my opinion. By the way, I know unsmart isn’t a word but it sounded right while I was typing.

Our good friend Matt who works at Headquarters, AKA Mr. Starbucks, just told us of the exciting news!

Update: Our other good friend Tim, Mr. AT&T just double confirmed this.

  • We’ve Got Competition

For those of you who are attached to Windows Mobile like my Hunny, stand by for the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, one-upping the iPhone with an arc-slider design with QWERTY keyboard and the ability to use a stylus. Click here for specs.

  • Like Two Peas In A Pod

It’s nice that most of our clients trust us even without meeting – all because of our blogs, which another adorable couple found us through. Jessica and Adrian have been dating long distance [Cali to Vancouver BC] for a long time – my hats off to them. The snow somehow knew that Jessica had been wishing for it ever since the session was scheduled. And I have to add that I absolutely love the red umbrella they brought! It’s safe to say that there will be no bundling up for their wedding as they will be celebrating at the Ritz-Carlton in Maui this summer.

Lego, thank you for all the years of fun and enjoyment!

  • It’s All About The Benjamins

We love the Benjamins! And I’m not talkin’ about the money kind, but our clients who became good friends of ours.

Andre hit a birthday milestone recently and I had the pleasure of capturing his ultra-hip celebration that his ultra-sexy wife planned for him. And of course I had to do a mini session of this ultra-cool couple.

  • Happiness and The Blues

There’s a lot of junk on television right now, but there’s the occasional good stuff. I just watched 20/20, a report on ‘Happiness’, and I’m so ‘happy’ I did.

    To sum it up . . .

    50% genes
    10% life circumstances
    40% intention, attitude, outlook

These are the percentages that make up total happiness.

‘The Happiest Place on Earth’ is Denmark [contrary to popular belief that Disneyland is :) ].

This is pretty surprising because it is a country that is “cold, dreary, and unspectacular.”  And it also has “one of the highest taxes – up to 63% of one’s income.”

Some characteristics that make up Denmark:

    - People don’t choose careers based on income or status.  A banker, a garbage man, and an artist all get paid similar salaries.
    - They can all afford cars, but most choose bikes.
    - Vegetables are bought by the honor system.
    - Mothers leave babies unattended outside cafes.

Basically, it’s a society that trusts and doesn’t judge by status.

I think we could learn a lot from these Danes.

    So remember, intention, attitude, outlook.

On another note, today is a big day for our beloved Seahawks. They’re the underdogs, but I have faith that they can win. I’ll be proudly sportin’ this jersey that my Hunny got me. Go hawks!

Update: I know that they don’t blame the weather, but I can’t help but feel sorry for them because they’re not used to playing in the snow. Everytime they dropped the ball, my heart sank. We still love our Seahawks though. And I hope Holmgren doesn’t retire just yet.

  • Winter Sun

You might remember our trip to Maui; this time, it was a solo trip out to Oahu.

To start off the new year, I had the honor of photographing close friends of mine for their destination wedding. My family and the Noh family grew up together and Gene was my late brother’s closest friend, so this was extra special. Before the wedding day, Gene told me that he had one less groomsman in the wedding party because he reserved a place for my brother, which brought me to tears because I was so touched.

Gene, the handsome groom has been serving our country for many years in the Air Force. Christina [whom hubby and I call by her cool last name Zahara], the beautiful bride is studying hard at the highly coveted UW School of Law. And they are just darling together!

Destination weddings are always great because it gives a chance for the family and friends to really get to know each other and the celebration automatically feels intimate. Guests came from all over the world for their celebration and some of the places are the ones below.

[below] Zahara embossed every program! Crafters know how hardcore that is.

[below] Zahara’s hair stylist gave her an interesting hairdo so Sunny [Gene's sister who was also my Maid of Honor] came to the rescue! May this serve as a lesson to future brides - get a trial done if at all possible.

During the ceremony, there were a lot of sniffles going around, especially when Zahara’s younger sister sang so angelically. I get teary-eyed at many weddings, and this one was no exception with my tears blurring my vision through the viewfinder. But not to worry, I still got the shots. :)

[below] Gene has a picture when he was Prom King at his high school so I had them do a reenactment of it.

[below] They brought the beach indoors with place settings in the sand.

[below] Sweet party favors! Personalized M&M‘s.

[below] Their first dance was to “The Way I Am” by Ingrid Michaelson [currently playing], sung and accompanied live by the wedding party. What a perfect little song!

[below] Some miscellaneous places we went on the island.

[below] The day before the wedding, the ladies went on a quest to find sea turtles on North Shore. I’m wearing a ’Welcome to Hawaii’ gift mumu thanks to Suns.

We found one just layin’ out and a couple of them swimming like Crush and Squirt from ‘Finding Nemo’.

    [below] Hanauma Bay

[below] Their last name is Noh and I found a perfect street sign ‘Nohonani’ so of course I made Sunny pose for me. Look how cute she is!

And then I came back to snow in Seattle.
