Best of 2007
What a year! We lowered the amount of weddings from about 50 to 40 from last year, but with all the traveling, we still had a jam-packed year! It’s been such a blessing to be able to photograph all our different couples with different weddings in different places. I’m still waiting for our Greece wedding – any takers?
Thank you to all our incredibly wonderful clients who make our job feel like we’re just picking up new friends along the way! We love you all!
To end this year, I thought it might be fun to share some of my picks for the “Best.”
Best Dress
I’ve seen hundreds and hundreds of dresses but this one stands out from the rest. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s not another strapless? Maybe it’s the fact that Nancy looks like she belongs on the Amsale runway? Well whatever the reason, it exudes modern sophistication!
Best Groom Attire
Not a tuxedo with all the frills, yet still very classy. Brandon gets bonus points for timing his facial hair perfectly for his wedding.
Best Engagement Look
Not only are they a stunning couple, Natalie and Justin wore outfits that were a good balance between dressy and casual. And their future kids won’t make fun of their outfits.
Best Ring
It might not show from this angle, but this rock was the size of what you see celebrities wearing. And her last name is Diamond to match. We’re not only talkin’ size though, the style was glamorous and unique.
Best Hair
We have clients still raving about Rose’s perfect romantic loose curls!
Best Shoes
Anything that starts with Vera and ends with Wang deserves recognition, but Janet goes above and beyond to add little crystal embellishments with her and her beloved’s initials.
Best Accessories
Best known for our ‘Vanity Fair-esque’ shot, Veda chose some exquisite jewelry to adorn herself on her special day.
Best Bouquet [and Decor]
Don’t get me started on Teressa. As if it’s not already demanding enough to get ready for her wedding, she did her own flowers [with the help of her family] and turned a barn into a magical place for her wedding!

Best Bridesmaid Dresses
Oh so lovely from head to toe!
Best Venue
I thought I was somewhere straight out of a movie!
Best Cake
I referred Nancy and John to the company that made our wedding cake because they are the best in taste and price, and they definitely didn’t disappoint. Taste, design, color scheme – the whole package!
Best Centerpieces
There were a lot of table tops that I ooh’d and ahh’d, but this one topped them all because of the added light elements that enhanced the ambiance even more.
Best Overall Wedding
Jennifer and James hosted a wedding that was so amazingly and intricately orchestrated from beginning to end that I can’t even put it into words.
Best Dressed Photographer
With no bias at all, the “H” in GH.
Happy 2008 everyone! Have your Best year ever!

Thankful
I firmly believe that having a heart full of gratitude can have a huge impact on one’s life; it does mine. Even harder than what I thought was the peak of my hardships - the two years when I stood by my brother’s side while battling cancer, this year has been the hardest year of my life by far. I found it easy to fall into a place I hated to be - for the first time, the light at the end of the tunnel was very difficult for me to see. When hard things happen one after another, it’s hard to find the will to be thankful. But somehow I managed to give thanks for everything in my life. It was that or feel sorry for myself. So this particular Thanksgiving day is most poignant for me.
Be Thankful
Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you’re tired and weary
Because it means you’ve made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are
also thankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles and they can become your blessings.

Jane and John’s wedding was extra special because they said their vows in the same church as Hun and I did four years back. A beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple. Hun and I were on the other end of the camera during their celebration as we had the honor of standing in their wedding party. John’s brother Joey and I did a bridal shoot of these two some time ago and I wanted to share some favorites of mine.

Here’s a sneak peek from the day of. Bridesmaid dresses found by yours truly . . .

The past few weeks have been crazier than usual around here [which I didn't think was possible] because two close couples of ours got married back to back.
We decided to add a new service to GH Kim Photography - see video below [so proud of my hubby]. Just kidding about the new service by the way. I have to take some credit for this since I came up with the idea, but the three of them definitely brought sexy back! :) To the charming couple, congratulations Sylvia and Matt!
