Even though I see a lot of division in politics, it makes me really happy to see that more people [in my life] are being active in elections. But please, don’t bash others for not agreeing with you - God made us all different. I’m so embarrassed to say that I have never voted yet. I never had time to educate myself on the different candidates|issues. Next presidential election, I’m so there!

I came across a great article: http://www.christianitytoday.com/tcw/2003/003/3.46.html
Please read [especially ladies]!
A lot of times, I hear ladies say how disgusting it is that guys gawk at girls. I’m going to be bold and say that us women are largely responsible, not just the men that do it. Of course it’s hard since this society [via magazines, television, movies, etc.] tells us to wear revealing clothes to be beautiful. I’ll admit that I love reading magazines, and I get sucked into ‘what can make me more cool or what not’. I can’t believe the kind of clothes that people wear these days – especially when I see younger girls wearing them. Some parts of the body that are revealed should only be seen by a husband. If anyone on the street can see lots of skin or intimate parts of the body, what’s saved for the husband to enjoy?
Some key highlights of the article:
“But the problem with immodesty isn’t just about causing our Christian [*or non-Christian] brothers to stumble; it’s also about our craving for the emotional rush we receive when we know we’re being noticed.” *my addition
“The apostle Peter advises us on how we should adorn the temple: “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment … Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight” (1 Peter 3:3, 4). Peter’s not dissing the fashions of the day, he’s calling women to a higher presentation of modesty, that of an inner confidence to say “no” to the culture.”
Now I’m not saying that guys are off the hook – you gentlemen are responsible for controlling those hormones. ; ) But ladies, let’s do our best to help keep the brothas from stumbling.

hi grace!!! good article!!! as much as we’d like to place all responsibility on men… we are just as much to blame…. we as women can help them in their struggles!!! this is an article that all women should read!
Hey Grace,
The gawking is a two way street, but rape and sexual assault have little or nothing to do with sex, and everything to do with power. Men who commit such crimes have SERIOUS problems that need to be worked out, no matter what a woman is wearing.
BTW, it is just fine to expect more from men as well. While it may be a high standard, it is the standard.
division in politics. politics wouldn’t be politics without, eh? ;0)
Finally, someone out there understands! :]
c’on. why? just let them be..
just playin. good job grace.
nice nice =D i miss you grace auntie!!!!
“…a man’s sexual response is initiated by his autonomic nervous system (ANS), which isn’t controlled by the will, but by the environment.”
hmmm this statement bothers me…
amen…dang it, does that mean I have to return my new jeans…j/k…besides, I’ve worn them!
[not that they're revealing, but they are one expensive "outward adornment"!]
I like it! Oohh….but you know what would help, esp for those young girls…like the 10-13 year olds…who don’t quite always get what they are buying into…some godly brothers vocally appreciating things about them that are not physical….ya wanna know what I mean…ask David Shin for some tips…he’s a pro at this!
Maybe chics would be less inclined to look for emotional gratification from fleeting, meaningless “Hey, good lookin” cat calls & be content with, as Mary J says it, real love…well, real brotherly love!
grace…thanks for the post. deep stuff.
simon…wow. also, deep stuff.
and just to make sure no one stumbles…i’ll stop wearing my halter tops.
politics…glad thats over…haana and sped over to vote at 7.45…hahahhah i could hear sunny’s wrathful voice telling me to go out and vote! hahhahahha

I so agree!!! Thanks for standing up and saying that OUT LOUD!
